How will MasterCard® SecureCode™ benefit me?
The growth of online shopping in recent years has, unfortunately, led to a growth in online fraud.
The MasterCard® SecureCode™ programme protects you against unauthorised use of your card online - greatly reducing the risk of you falling victim to fraud.
It enables you to create a password that retailers will ask for when you're completing the check-out process. This password, known only to you and thinkbanking, is like an 'electronic signature' for purchases you make online.
Once you activate your card for the MasterCard® SecureCode™ programme, you'll be able to 'sign' your transactions with this password - just like signing a copy of the receipt (or entering your PIN number) when you shop in person at a store.
This digital signature helps prove to the retailer, and thinkbanking, that your card is not being used fraudulently - which helps make these purchases safer.
